Kinloch Lodge

Kinloch Lodge, the older part of the hotel was the hunting lodge of the Macdonalds and has for long been a haven for those seeking the better things in life.
Famous for its food, comfortable private and public rooms and an air of tranquility which does the soul good.

In June 1998, a beautiful new house was completed, barely fifty metres from the old. This house is an elegant addition to Kinloch Lodge, complementing it in style and scale. It is positioned to enhance the outlook from the Lodge whilst the views from both buildings are uncompromised.
This building is known as Kinloch to distinguish it from the Lodge. The new building contains an additional five fully appointed bedrooms, a sumptuous sitting room and a special kitchen for Claire's cookery demonstrations, of which, more below.

Guests can stay in either the Lodge or the new Kinloch and enjoy the comfort and hospitality that was traditional to the Highland clans.
In earlier times Kinloch, on the Sleat(Slate) peninsula, was at the heart of the Macdonald lands on Skye and is well positioned for an exploration of that beautiful island or, with the new bridge, the neighbouring mainland.
-The Bedrooms-
Kinloch Lodge

Kinloch Lodge was not built as a hotel with the result that the ten bedrooms, all with private bathrooms, do vary considerably in size and outlook. This is, of course, reflected in the price.
Some of the rooms are small and may not have a sea or mountain view but they are as comfortable and as well appointed as the others.

The new house offers five large guest bedrooms, all with private bathrooms. They are decorated in Claire's individual style with impeccable taste. All have views of mountain and sea.

-Other Rooms-
Our guests are encouraged to take advantage of the two 'drawing rooms in the Lodge which have spectacular views of the mountains of Knoydart or our own Cuillin hills.

The 'drawing room in Kinloch is spacious and comfortable with family portraits and sporting prints on the walls. A library and an interesting collection of butterflies completes the decor.
- Dinner and Breakfast-
Kinloch Lodge is justifiably, famous for its food. Prepared to Claire Macdonald's recipes and detailed in her books, demonstrations and instructional courses( for details of these see link, below).
Emphasis is placed on fresh local produce of which there is a natural abundance.
All meals are served in the dining room in the Lodge where, from the walls,
you are envied by Macdonald ancestors whilst enjoying your dinner. The Dining room in Kinloch Lodge
From the windows you can admire the Cuillin Hills, a Golden Eagle or with luck, an otter in Loch na Dal.
