The Garden of Skye
Ord

Ord, the place for brilliant sunsets over the Cuillins and Blaven, was the site of the 8th c. Teampuill Chaon (St Comgan's Chapel). Alexander Smith wrote his very readable 'Summer in Skye' when he stayed at Ord House in 1865. The area is fertile limestone, making the hills greener. A private garden, with an entrance gate at the shore, has a remarkable selection of plants. The islands to the north have 'coral beaches' (the by-product of a seaweed) and some common seals.
